A better than expected canteen renovation is on the cards for Deniliquin North School thanks to the overwhelming support of its latest fundraiser.

The school planned and hosted a colour run on Friday night to raise money for the upgrades.
P&C secretary and event coordinator Hayley Chadderton said both the fundraising effort and the night itself exceeded expectations.
“Our original goal was to raise $5000, and we are already over $10,000 and still collecting funds,” Mrs Chadderton said.
“It’s all going to the canteen renovations - specifically a new sink and cabinetry.
“We ran the fundraiser through Australian Fundraising, which meant all money was donated digitally.
“Each student created their own profile, and could send the link out to their family and friends to raise money.”
Even before entering the school grounds on Friday night, the excited yells of children could be heard and the distinct smell of the free sausage sizzle wafted over north Deni.
Most children had tried and tested the obstacle course before the official colour run had begun, with hay bale jumps, cardboard tunnels and a pool noodle obstacle among the favourites.
Students, their siblings, parents, other family members and even teachers all took part in the fun run style event.
Each starting with crisp white outfits, it took only one lap for the white to disappear - thanks to the water sprays and parent and teacher colour distributors at strategic points along the route.
Some students tried to avoid the colour spray so as not to make it too easy, while others paused on their way round to make sure they got every last bit of powdered dye they could soak up.
And there were several more laps enjoyed over the course of half an hour.
