In its original statement, the school suggested the closure would likely end on Friday.
But further assessments on safety were required.
Students will be allowed to return to school from today, but they will be sent to other school campuses due to extensive water damage at Edward School.
“Students in K/1MW and 1/2KT will attend Deniliquin South Public School and students in 3/4DB, 4/5DY, MC and 5/6HP will attend Deniliquin High School,” the school said.
All students will be transported to these schools from Edward Public School on Dyson buses.
Students are to arrive at Edward Public School at the usual time between 8.30am and 9am.
Buses will depart EPS at 9.30am and return at 2.45pm.
Parents and carers are invited to an information session in the Bradley Hall this morning at 9am for more information.
The school has yet to determine exactly how long this relocation will be in process but advises parents and carers to keep an eye out for updates on the schools Facebook page.
Fish out of water
Many of our readers may have seen our snippet in Friday’s PTee column about how the recent flash floods had affected the local wildlife.
One of our Ptee correspondents reported seeing fish swimming in the water over roads in the industrial area of Deniliquin.
Today we can bring you the photographic proof of the out-of-place animal.
The photo was provided to us by a local who spotted the carp left high and dry in a yard on Barham Rd on the weekend.
It is quite literally a fish out of water.
It’s interesting to note how extreme weather conditions can impact the natural habitats of various species.
Day for Disabilities
The Waring Gardens hosted a lively celebration for the International Day for People with Disabilities at the weekend, which various local organisations attended.
The event featured various fun activities, a sausage sizzle, a jumping castle, and informative stands that raised awareness about the needs and contributions of people with disabilities.
It was the perfect event for locals to showcase that all members of the Deniliquin community are recognised and supported.
Countdown continues
Just a friendly reminder that as of yesterday, there are only three weeks left until the most anticipated day of the year - Christmas Day.
If you haven’t started planning or buying presents yet, now is the perfect time to do so.
And remember to get your tickets in for this Friday’s Have Yourself a Very Local Christmas draw.
Remember, the clock is ticking, and you don’t want to be caught off guard.
Additionally, it’s worth keeping an eye on your little ones as they gear up for their six-week long summer holiday, which will begin for most schools in NSW on December 20.
So, get your festive spirit on and start preparing for the holiday season.
