Edward River Council has partnered with Deniliquin Rotary, with support from the Deniliquin Mental Health Awareness Group, to bring together a fun-filled festive event.
“After a tough couple of months with floods, we are excited to be able to get together as a community to celebrate the festive season,” said Mayor Peta Betts.
Deniliquin retailers will be open for Friday late night shopping.
It will be the last chance for locals and visitors to shop local and gain more entries in The Great Christmas Card Giveaway.
An initiative of the Deniliquin Pastoral Times, and supported by ERC, the giveaway’s $1000 Deni Gift Card second prize draw will be conducted as part of the evening.
“There’ll be lots of free activities for the kids with face painting, glitter tattoos, Christmas crafts, a jumping castle and a nine-hole mini golf course,” Cr Betts said.
“And of course, there will be a special guest appearance from Santa Claus and his elf helpers.”
An array of local summer food and beverage stalls will be available to purchase from.
Rotary’s Carols by Candlelight will follow on from the Christmas party fun, from 7pm.
“The Rotary Carols by Candlelight is always a family favourite,” Cr Betts said.
“People will be able to enjoy Christmas song performances from local stars Zara Lindeman and The Smoking Gun, Allitt Family Sing, and the Sing Australia Choir, accompanied by the Edward River Concert Band.
“And what better way to end the night but with Edward River Council’s spectacular community fireworks display at 9pm.
“We can’t wait to celebrate the festive season with you all.”
