And now an Echuca woman has surpassed her luck, claiming $40 million after winning division one of Thursday night’s Powerball.
When informed of her win by The Lott on Friday morning, she said she was completely shocked by her new multi-millionaire status.
“Oh my god! Oh my god! I can’t believe it. I thought it was a scam,” she said.
“This just doesn’t feel real. I’m so nervous, I feel really bizarre. My whole body has gone numb. How do I know if this is real?
“I can’t believe this is happening. This is really going to take some time to sink in. It won’t feel real until the money is in my bank account.”
The woman hinted that she may now resign from her job and spend more time with her loved ones.
She said the money would be used to leave a legacy for her family for years to come.
“My husband and I have all these goals in place and were wondering how we were going to achieve them, but now we don’t have to worry any more,” she said.
“We will be able to pay off the mortgage completely and set ourselves up for the future.”
There was only one division-one-winning entry in the Powerball draw and that entry was purchased online.
The winning numbers drawn were 7, 35, 31, 2, 24, 21 and 15 but the all-important Powerball number was 18.
In addition to the sole division one winner, there were 1,330,835 winners in divisions two through to nine who won more than $24,588,923.20.
This includes 26 division two winners who each took home $26,183.75.
