Art lovers and appreciators alike will be rubbing their hands together in anticipation as our very own local art show prepares to open.
One new and exciting feature of this year's Art Show, hosted by the Rotary Club of Deniliquin and the Edward River Art Society, is the introduction of a longer run time for the show.
Last year, the exhibition of the art works went from Good Friday, March 29 and went through only until the Easter Monday, April 1.
This year sees the show exhibit the works from Good Friday, April 18, until Saturday, May 17, keeping the exhibition for viewing for near a whole month.
Round one all done
Local footballers and netballers were back at the weekend, finally starting their 2025 seasons.
The season’s beginnings are always an exciting time for junior and senior players, of both sports, this past weekend was no different.
Rovers played Mathoura in Mathoura for a great clash between two old foes, the Rams travelled to Barooga to play the Hawks on their home patch, and, the Blighty Redeyes hosted Jerilderie.

Police and community engagement day
A sports clinic being hosted by Deniliquin Police with the support of the community will be held this Saturday from 9am at Rotary Park, Deniliquin.
The clinic will be followed by a free barbecue for those in attendance, with an estimated start time for lunch of 12.30pm.
The day will also be a star studded event, with former NRL player Charlie Tonga, who played for the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs and Sydney Roosters, as well as representing his nation of Tonga as a player and coach.
As well as Charlie, the clinic will have a number of other former and current professional athletes.
Henderson stringing them together
Local footballing Cinderella story protagonist, Jack Henderson, has now played the first four games of the season for the Melbourne Demons in the AFL.
After a whirlwind off-season training with West Coast and then signing with Melbourne, Jack has been kept just as busy with the rigours of life as an AFL footballer playing each week.
The Demons played Geelong last Friday night, the final scores reading Geelong Cats 12.13 (85) def Melbourne Demons 6.10 (46).
Accidental advocate
Independent candidate for Farrer Michelle Milthorpe has officially launched her federal campaign, with events in Deniliquin and Albury at the weekend.
Friday night’s event in Deniliquin was an opportunity for Michelle to explain who she is, and why she has taken to local politics.
Her introduction into politics came through sexual abuse advocacy efforts, after two of her daughters reported being abused.
Through this particularly difficult time for her daughters and family, Michelle was able to come out the other end determined to fight against child sexual abuse, doing so through a potential seat in the Farrer electorate as an independent.
The Deni even was followed by an official campaign launch at the Noreuil Park Foreshore in Albury, attended by 150 people.
