Deniliquin depot manager Evan Maidment said the inaugural Dyson Driver Appreciation Day was held at all Dyson depots across NSW and Victoria on Monday, as a way for the company to say thank you to all our bus drivers.
Mr Maidment said this has now been added to the calendar as an annual event, for approximately 900 staff across both states.
“A lunch consisting of a variety of pizzas, followed by a chocolate mud cake, was enjoyed by all.
“A big thank you to Nick Dawson from That Pizza who made all the pizzas, even though he isn’t open during lunch hours. He did us a huge favour.”
Lindsay Newton, Les Bond , Shane Laing (back), Peter Amor, Paula Tebbens, Fred Royston, Bill Huntly John Tushuizen and Alan Hartwell.
Stay alert to scams
The community is being advised to stay alert to scams, after a recent visit from a concerned citizen brought another one to our attention.
If you are receiving any emails from MyGov at the moment, be sure to pay very close attention.
Try comparing it to a previous MyGov email you know is legitimate, but look closely as it will look almost identical at first or even second glance.
This particular citizen was told there was a refund waiting for her to collect, in which she would have to provide her bank details for collection.
Thankfully she noticed a few small differences, so deleted it straight away.
She then learned a friend had received the exact same email, for the exact same amount of money.
Where has Deni gone?
For so long Deniliquin has been included in the Shepparton White Pages, but in recent years we have seemed to fall off the face of the Earth.
The last known White Pages Deni was included in was the 2018/19 edition, which also included Wakool and Moulemein.
Then in the 2019/2020 version while Deniliquin was still included on the front cover, it was outside the boundary of the map which displayed towns included, along with Wakool and Moulemein.
It has been brought to our attention that Deni is not included in the Wagga phonebook either, so where has Deni gone?
And why, after so many years, are we no longer included?
While we work on getting to the bottom of this, you can find all Deni’s local contacts in the Deniliquin Business Chamber’s 2022 Telephone & Business Directory.
It can be purchased for just $5 from the newsagency, Chamber office or the Pastoral Times office.
Work will soon start on the 2023 book, so keep an eye out for the change of listing forms.
Any new businesses wishing to be included in next year’s pink pages are encouraged to call our office on 5881 2322.
Extended hours for local Library
Edward River Library has extended its weekday opening hours.
The new closing time of 5pm enables children and families more time after school to access the library.
The extended hours will allow visitors to gain further access to books, movies, VR games and to virtually travel the world with Youtube 360 videos.
The extended hours coincided with the opening of the A Day In The Life Of Deniliquin exhibition at the library on Monday.
The exhibition features an insightful snapshot of local life over the past 31 years.
The images can be viewed inside the library, but can also be seen from outside when the library is closed.
The new opening hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm and Saturdays from 10am to noon.
