Deni North students host Anzac Day service

Deniliquin North Public School held an Anzac Day Service last Friday to commemorate all service men and women, and to remember the courage and sacrifice of all those who fought at Gallipoli in 1915.

We were grateful to have Don Ward and Allan Edwards from the Deniliquin RSL Sub-branch and Richard Davies and Noel Porter from the local Legacy branch attend the service.

Mr Ward spoke to us about Eddie Sheehan, who won the highest military honour — the Victoria Cross — for his incredibly brave efforts in saving his mates during the Second World War.

During the service, we presented a cheque to the value of $226 to go towards the local branch of Legacy.

We are very proud of all the students in our official party for how well they carried out their role and to all our fellow students in the audience, for how respectful and quiet they were during the ceremony.

On Sunday we also represented Deniliquin North Public School at the Deniliquin Anzac Service.

We went to Waring Gardens and laid a wreath to pay our respects to those who fought and fell at Gallipoli in WWI.

It was a nice and sunny day as the marching band led the parade down Cressy Street with emergency services, returned soldiers and their relatives in tow.
