Bail refusedA 36 year-old Deniliquin man was arrested on Saturday for an alleged assault and reportedly breaching an apprehended violence order.Police were called to the man’s Deniliquin home by neighbours after hearing an argument between a man and a woman.On arrival, the woman reportedly told police the man was physically aggressive and had threatened to stab her.An AVO was already in place after an alleged incident on April 25, during which the woman told police she was punched ‘‘several times’’.The man was arrested following Saturday’s incident and initially assessed at Deniliquin Hospital before being taken to the police station.He was charged and bail refused, pending an appearance in Albury Magistrate’s Court in Monday. He was again bail refused, to appear in Deniliquin Court on June 8.

Tree snapped

A tree was snapped in half on the eastern end of Harfleur St, Deniliquin on Saturday.The malicious damage occurred between 11.30pm and midnight.Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 5881 9299 or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
