When it comes to celebrating special occasions and fostering a strong school community, Mathoura Public School ensures each event is unforgettable.
The annual Father’s Day celebration, more commonly known as 'Bloke's Day,' exemplified this commitment perfectly.
The event kicked off with a delicious barbecue lunch, setting the stage for an afternoon packed with fun and interactive experiences.
Attendees had the opportunity to explore their children’s classrooms and participate in various engaging activities, including kick-to-kick, aiming footies at a target, honing handballing skills, shooting hoops, and enjoying hand tennis.
All students then performed 'Boot Scooting Baby' before concluding the afternoon with a modified game of football, in which students competed against their dads.
The activities paired well with Footy Colours Day, with staff and students alike wearing their favourite teams’ colours to school for the day.
A fundraiser for the Fight Cancer Foundation, gold coin donations were accepted on the day. The school also had an official online fundraising page.
Footy Colours Day specific activities included students placing a gold coin donation into the outline of a football drawn with chalk.
In a discussion on the best team in the AFL, Essendon emerged as the clear favourite. Richmond came in second.
Students then engaged in a whole-school quiz, which not only expanded their knowledge of the Fight Cancer Foundation’s mission, but also raised awareness of the impact of cancer on children each year.
The fundraising effort saw $365 raised to support cancer research and support initiatives.
