Start voting for your fave Xmas lights
The Deni Lights Up Christmas lights competition entries closed Saturday, and there’s now 26 great displays for you to peruse and enjoy.
As we promised in last week’s edition, each registered entry is plotted on a handy lights map in this edition (see page 12).
At the bottom of the map you will find details on how to vote for your favourite.
But don’t delay - votes for People’s Choice close this Thursday.
The winner selected by you - and the winners of the Best Business Display and Best Residential Display selected by the judges - will be announced at the Edward River Community Christmas Party and Rotary Carols by Cadlelight event this Friday.
Deni Lights Up is a Deniliquin Bsuiness Chamber initiative, supported by Pastoral Times, 1521QN/102.5 Edge FM and Ray White Deniliquin.
The prize for best business is a $1000 advertising package split between the PT and radio station.
In the residential category, there is a $400 Deni Gift Card for the winner and $100 Deni Gift Card for the second place.
The entrant with the most People’s Choice votes receives a $400 Deni Gift Card.

Roadside wildlife warning
Wear and tear from flooding inundation is not the only hazard you have to look pout for as the floodwaters continue to recede in the local area.
There appears to be an abundance of roadkill on the main arterial roads in and out of Deniliquin.
While this is not unusual given our proximity to bushland areas and event the Murray Valley National Park, regular road users are even surprised at the sheer number.
With some areas of the forest still flooding, and with water at the roadsides receding, wildlife will likely creep closer to the roads to get the best feed possible.
Please take extra care, especially when driving at dawn, duck and in the dark of the night.
