About 30 guests were treated to a lasagna, chips and salad lunch, as well as a dessert for afterwards, at the cost of a gold coin donation.
The lunch provides an opportunity for community members to make connections with one another and be a part of something.
Beautiful aurora
Did you see, or photograph, this week aurora spectacular?
A few lucky locals were in the right place at the right time, including one member of the Mathoura Rural Fire Service.
The volunteer was on his way home from a group meeting when the skies turned bright pink.
He could not help but stop for a quick snap, making sure to highlight the RFS at the same time.
District police ball
The Murray River Police District’s officers, employees and interested parties will come together on Saturday, October 19 to raise money for both New South Wales and Victorian Legacy.
This year the ball will be held at the Albury Commercial Club, at 618 Dean St, Albury.
There will be prizes and an auction, including an opportunity to win a ride in a police helicopter for the day.
Tickets will be $170 dollars each, they will include a two course meal and a four hour drinks tab, with all proceeds going to Legacy New South Wales and Victoria.
Strong Althetics showing
Local kids were giving it their all at the Deniliquin Little Athletics trial day last Sunday, held at the Hardinge St Oval.
More than 60 were registered on the day and will be involved with the club throughout the season.
The season begins today at 4.30pm, and continue each Friday.
There will also be local, zone and regional athletics carnivals for the children to participate in throughout the season.
If an athlete is successful at these meets, they will progress to the next stage, with the potential to be involved in a state combined carnival.
Variety Bash Rally
Keep your eyes peeled for the Variety Bash Rally participants today.
The rally begins in Swan Hill, and one of the first stops will be Conargo Public School on the way to West Wyalong.
It will be the second year in a row the school has been on the Bash’s pit stop list.
Conargo PS played host to rallyers in May last year, which was a lot of fun for everyone involved. And the school also got a handsome donation out of it too.
More than 80 teams are taking part, and with the cars expected to arrive in Conargo by noon, you can probably expect them to pass through Deni mid-morning.
The Variety Bash raises money for Variety - The Children’s Charity.
