This support includes a $40,000 loan for the completion of the new shed on Honour Avenue and a further $20,000 as a pre-payment for future services.
The Corowa Men’s Shed (CMS) plays a vital role in the community by providing a meaningful purpose for men who are recently retired, disabled, lonely or simply seeking engagement.
Currently under construction and nearing completion, the new facility will offer much-needed additional space and enhanced amenities. Planned features of the new shed include a meeting room, office space, kitchen facilities, a metalwork room, and outdoor storage.
CMS Secretary Graham Withers expressed gratitude for Club Corowa’s ongoing support.
“Without the support of Club Corowa, we would not be able to complete the shed,” Mr Withers said.
“Their ongoing generosity allows us to continue serving our community effectively.
“We are very excited about our new facility which will not only provide essential space and resources but also enable us to expand our programs and support even more men in the local community who rely on the Men’s Shed for connection and purpose.”
Club Corowa CEO Peter Norris said the club was proud to support the men’s shed and highlighted the importance of the partnership.
“The Corowa Men’s Shed plays such an important role in our community and had done such a magnificent job getting their new premises almost complete,” Mr Norris said.
“They just fell short and needed a small helping hand to finish this project. Club Corowa are extremely proud to be able to reach out and assist the Men’s Shed in finalising their new space.
The shed is renowned for its diverse activities, which include minor community projects, furniture construction and restoration, woodworking, recycling, steel fabrication, and a supportive social environment that fosters mental well-being.
Established in May 2017 with just eight members, the Corowa Men’s Shed has grown to a robust community of 42 members.
Club Corowa has a long and cherished history of collaboration with both the local the Men’s Shed and She Shed. Last year, the club provided grants to both organisations to assist with their major projects.
The latest financial assistance reflects the club’s continued dedication to supporting local initiatives that enhance community welfare.
