CareSouth will hold its first ever recruitment day in Deniliquin this Thursday.
The organisation is hiring youth support workers, caseworkers and family time workers who want to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children and young people.
Those who come along on the day will be given a guaranteed interview, career support to guide you on your journey, information about relevant qualifications, plus resume advice and free printing.
CareSouth is open to meeting both experienced and entry level candidates.
When CareSouth Deniliquin opened its doors in 2013, it had one caseworker supporting eight children in foster care.
Now, with a 10 year legacy behind it, the organisation supports more than 70 local children and young people and employs more than 30 staff.
As one of the leading child protection agencies in the area, CareSouth has become an important part of the community’s social fabric.
It not only helps children, young people, carers and families but creates local jobs and long-term career development for local people.
“The growth of CareSouth in Deniliquin, not just in terms of program growth but also in terms of staff growth and development, has been phenomenal considering CareSouth didn’t have a program in the Western region until 2013,” said CareSouth Deniliquin manager Georgia Henderson.
“We started with eight children and now have around 75 children in our foster care program, one residential house and two interim care model houses.
“We’ve been able to make a significant difference in each of the areas that we work in, and we’ve been embraced and supported by our communities.”
In recent years, the Department of Communities and Justice reported a 373 per cent rise in the number of children taken into care across the past two decades, with the Western region of NSW seeing one of the biggest increases.
As a youth support worker, caseworker or family time worker, you will get to work with children and young people in foster care to help them gain independence and build a better future.
Western region manager Pru McManus, who was Deniliquin’s first caseworker, now oversees the leadership of the Deniliquin team and said its success is due to a supportive culture.
“To ensure success, you need to have a quality team who work well together, support each other and build each other up,” she said.
“I truly believe our region has succeeded because of our team, their commitment and passion for what we do.
“They are so supportive of one other; it really is because of them that we are where we are.
“We want to ensure people know there are great opportunities available locally where they can truly make a difference to someone’s life and find their purpose.”
The recruitment day will be hosted between 2pm and 6pm this Thursday at CareSouth Deniliquin, 4/344 Cressy St, Deniliquin.
