Bush Poets festive season arrives

Family members that unveiled passed members to the Honour Board on the poetry lectern were David Seymour, Faye Falahey, Dawn and Ian McKenzie and Mandy McConnell.

The Deniliquin Bush poets started the festive season with a Christmas luncheon and lively array of poetry and music at the Deniliquin Bowling club.

Added to festive celebrations was a dedication ceremony for some of the former poets of the club.

Their names are added to the honour board on the poetry lectern so they live on in the memories of club members and the public.

Carole Stevenson was on hand for her dedication, with the family members of other invited to be part of the celebrations.

Joyce Seymour’s induction was unveiled by David Seymour, Ken Falahey’s by Faye Falahey, Frank May’s by Mandy McConnell and Fay Pattison’s by Dawn and Ian McKenzie.

The meeting was opened by Graeme Dick and Alex Allitt, welcoming people to the occasion.

Poetry was read, recited and sung.

There was also a mixture of original and written works, with the original works adding an insight into the humour, beauty and hardship in peoples lives.
