It wants everyone to be involved.
As part of the two-week display, the society is holding a kids’ fun day on Wednesday, September 20, with free entry to the museum, including children’s entertainment and activities.
The day will consist of storytelling, live music and a sing-along, old-time games and a barbecue lunch.
As part of the day, Campaspe Shire Council is sponsoring a bus for families to travel up from Rochester.
“It was a way to make it a fun day, without costing people anything and the kids can enjoy themselves,” Echuca Historical Society treasurer Deidre Coombs said.
This is not the only way people can be involved.
The Echuca Historical Society is putting the call out for any member of the public who could ‘lend’ the group a teddy to be part of the display
“We are encouraging everybody in the community, from grandparents to parents and children, to take part,” Mrs Coombs said.
“We have had things before where families in the community have left things and you are always worried.
“But with the teddy bears, I want to make sure that we keep this numbering system going through and give a copy of the information back to the owner with the number on, then make sure we match up the numbers to the correct bear.
“It will be fun, we will make it fun.
“Teddies will be going on, like, a holiday camp.”
Mrs Coombs was thinking about doing something fun that kids would enjoy, bringing families into the society’s museum.
“Just prior to COVID, we had a couple of children’s fun days in the holiday periods, and they were always such a big event and success,” Mrs Coombs said.
“And I was thinking about something we could put on and I thought ‘what about teddy bears?’
“We can’t have rabbits or dolls, this is for traditional teddy bears.”
If you would like your teddy bear to be part of ‘Ready, Teddy, Go!’ from Monday September 4, Echuca Historical Society Museum will welcome teddy bears.
If you would like to travel from Rochester on the free bus to attend the kids’ fun day, phone the Echuca Historical Society on 5480 1325 to book a seat.
There are 57 seats available and children must be accompanied by an adult.
Ready, Teddy, Go! will be on display at the Echuca Historical Society Museum at 1-3 Dickson St, Echuca, from Friday, September 15, to Sunday, October 2.
