In response, the company is offering a range of competitive incentives to encourage new recruits.
Dysons depot manager for Deniliquin, Hay and Finley Evan Maidment said Dyson Group has been experiencing a bus driver shortage since the easing of COVID restrictions and are struggling to fill the job vacancies.
“We're looking to recruit more drivers in Deni, Finley and Hay, but mainly Deni,” he said.
“It's been really hard to find anyone able to employ and put in a bus.
“Anybody that comes through the door, we’re pretty much jumping on them straight away.
“I know the company is quite short everywhere but, prior to COVID, we'd have applications sitting on desks in like a waitlist.”
Mr Maidment said the shortage of drivers has definitely had a noticeable impact on Dysons, and put a strain on the current staff.
“The flow-on impacts of the shortage is not being able to give the drivers the time off that is needed, if they need to replace them with our casual drivers,” he said.
In response to the shortage, Mr Maidment said Dysons is offering a range of incentives to help encourage people to apply.
These include comprehensive on-the-job training, free access to mental health assistance programs, health and wellbeing programs, parking on-site, an annual end of year celebration, reward and recognition program, years of service awards and social club. Your uniform is also provided.
“Anybody can come in and try their best at driving a bus,” he said.
“But if they don't have their licences, we're willing to support them and help them in gaining those licences. More so, their bus drivers’ accreditation.
“It's such a flexible job, it's easy once you've got all your tickets.
“And Dysons is a very rewarding company to work for.”
Mr Maidment added that Dyson Group is also looking to hire a mechanic.
