Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows are bringing their high-energy, infectious, raw, rootsy rhythms to the Echuca Paramount on Friday, February 9.

One of the nation’s most successful touring bands, The Black Sorrows are always playing gigs around Australia.
“We are never, never not on tour; it is just one continuous life,” Joe said.
“It will be nice to be in Echuca again and I am glad to be playing there.
“I have been threatening to go to Echuca for a while because they have a cactus farm there and I want to see it.”
At the Echuca show, Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows will be playing songs the band is known for and more.
Joe has been at the forefront of the Australian music scene for decades as the leader of Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons and The Black Sorrows.
He has written many radio anthems, including Hit and Run, Shape I’m In, Chained To The Wheel, Harley and Rose and Never Let Me Go.
Joe is the consummate entertainer, continually honing his craft, an ARIA Hall of Famer and a rock’n’roll lifer.
“I’ve got 50 albums, and if there are 10 songs on an album, that’s 500 songs I’ve recorded,” Joe said.
“The ones that I am writing now are my favourites.
“Songs are a strange thing because they come to you and if you want to use them, use them and then they go.
“If you record them, you have a record of it, but then you move on to the next idea. I enjoy that.
“Music is a language, so if you are playing the blues, it is the language of the blues; if you are playing jazz, it is a jazz language; if you are playing rock, they are all different languages, and you can incorporate those into your idea.”
Joe knows that music crosses all divides in human life.
“One day, we could be fighting; the next, we are singing Christmas carols together,” he said.
“If you can carry it, and some people carry it more than others, but if you can carry music, it is good for you and your soul.
“Music is a healer, and you can park your troubles and have a good old dance, do something that gives you joy, have a laugh and fun time. It’s a good thing.”
