Rarely seen in these parts, it transited at Deni Airport overnight Wednesday.
While this Black Hawk looked different without its trademark black colouring, its shape could not be mistaken.
The helicopter is owned by Black Edge Aviation, which is owned by Matt Baker.
Related to the Conallins from ‘Islabank’, Matt said he was disappointed he could not come to town with the helicopter this time.
He confirmed his Black Hawk was previously used by the US Army, including in Bosnia.
While more often used for firefighting, it can also be suitable for construction work because they can carry items up to 3.5 tonnes.
NSW Water confirmed late yesterday the Black Hawk was being used for upgrades at Steven’s Weir.
We’ll have more information on the project in Tuesday’s edition.

Christmas is coming
Christmas is just over two months away, but the Deniliquin Local Health Advisory Committee is asking community members to get the gift of giving going early.
It will run its ‘Tree of Giving’ program again this year.
LHAC members will set up a Christmas tree in the foyer of the Deniliquin Hospital.
Community members are asked to leave gifts underneath, unwrapped if possible, so they can be directed to the right people.
While toys and gifts for young people are most often donated, LHAC is asking people to consider donating gift cards for adults, or even grocery gift cards.
These donations can be left at the hospital’s reception desk.
Gifts collected will be delivered to local families through Homes Out West.
