Organisers would like to express their gratitude and thanks to Leigh Holmberg and Tom Druitt for volunteering their time to drive the boats, and for passing on their skills, expertise and enthusiasm in water skiing to returning and first time skiers.
The committee also thanked observers and the many others who helped make the night a huge success saying “without volunteers we would not be able to run ski school”.
There was a fantastic turnout of eager skiers, with returning and new families warmly welcomed to the Deniliquin Boat Club fold.
Utilising and appreciating what we have on our doorstep, the Deniliquin Boat Club’s Ski School runs each Friday night from 5pm.
The session is open to children and adults wishing to learn more about the sport.
“We are very lucky to have a ski school and it is definitely a thrilling sport that everyone should try,” Deniliquin Boat Club member Aileen Hayes said.
“The joy and the sense of achievement on the kid’s faces was priceless, as they whizzed down the river.
“Each week we will be presenting awards to those kids/adults who participate in our ski school and show excellent progress.
“Awards on Friday night were given to five year old Hugo Murphy, and to Isobel Gordon.
“Hugo had a go on the boom bar and was bursting with confidence. We are all looking forward to seeing how he progresses over the season.
“Isobel skied beautifully behind the boat without the stabilizer bar, on the double skis - an excellent achievement.”
Anyone wishing to take advantage of ski school must be a member of the Deniliquin Boat Club.
Once you are a member, you can book via the club’s website - deniboatclub.com.
