A combined Berrigan/Numurkah Golf combination won the Murray Bowls State Fours final on Sunday.
The combination of Jason Milich, Matt Hansen (as substitute for Rick Bradbury), Paul Glanvill and ably skipped by Dane Gade from Numurkah Golf defeated a gallant Finley team by 13 shots to 11 in the final.
Several times in the match the combined team looked to be pulling away but Finley kept coming back right until the last end.
In the semi-final, played in the morning, the Berrigan-Numurkah Golf team defeated a strong Cobram combination 19-10.
Gade, Glanvill, Bradbury and Milich now go on to represent Murray Bowls in a playoff match against Goulburn Valley in March for a spot in the final 16.
The Berrigan midweek pennant team had a great start to their season defeating Tocumwal 3 at Tocumwal 65 shots to 38 (16-0).
Val Chisholm and her rink of Steve Gann, Nan Dart and Janice Graham won 31-11.
Glenys McKay won 17-13 and Mary Curtin won 17-14.
It has been a debut to remember for Erica Walkerden.
Thrown straight into the top team in Rick Bradbury's rink, she is undefeated to date.
This week the Curlews will look to make it two wins in a row against Numurkah 2 at home.
In Saturday pennant, the Division 2 Curlews made up for last week's defeat at home with a 57-41 (16-0) win on the road against Wunghnu.
Rick Bradbury won 21-15, Paul Glanvill won 18-13 and Matt Hansen won 18-13.
This week Division 2 host Barooga Sports.
The Division 3 team defeated newly promoted Katandra West at home 62-48 (16-0).
Hardy Rennick and his team of Val Chisholm, Jack Buckman and David Reynoldson were the stars on the day winning 23-13.
Glenys McKay won 17-16 and Alex Dalgliesh won 22-19.
Division 3 make the long trip to premiership favourites Picola this week in what will be a tough battle.
Division 5 headed off to Strathmerton on Saturday looking to make it two wins from two, but ran into a very strong Strathmerton combination losing 28-40 (0-14).
Rob Beard lost 17-18 while Steve Gann's rink - including Chris Stock and Peter Finleyson playing their first pennant match away from home - lost 11-22.
The Curlews play Nathalia at home this week.
Jerilderie
After two weeks of the 2024/25 pennant season, Jerilderie has had a mixed start.
With new bowlers stepping up to try pennant, Jerilderie has a team in Division 5 this year.
In the first round, the team went down to Tocumwal by only one shot, which was a great start to the season.
Division 5 had the bye in round two last weekend.
Division 3 had a loss to Picola in round one, but bounced back in round two beating Cobram on all three rinks and gaining maximum points.
This week Divison 5 will be away to Barooga, and Division 3 will be away to Numurkah.

The weather is much better now and barefoot bowls has been extremely popular.
The rinks were all full last Thursday evening.
Everyone is welcome to come and join in, with new bowls available for use.
Start time is 6pm.
Cost is $5 per head, with players mixed together and random winning teams.
