The new budget will be $110,000.
This investment introduces a new tiered grants system, designed to offer tailored funding opportunities for initiatives that contribute to the growth and wellbeing of local communities.
Benalla Mayor Bernie Hearn said the two tiers comprise the major community grants, up to $7000, and minor community grants, up to $3000, ensuring the flexibility required to meet the diverse needs of local groups.
“This enhanced program represents council’s commitment to empowering our community to achieve larger-scale, lasting projects that positively impact local infrastructure, social wellbeing, and community development,” Cr Hearn said.
The community grants program opened for applications on Monday, April 14 and closes on Sunday, June 1.
To ensure accessibility and fairness, organisations may apply for both grant categories but can only receive funding from one program during the funding period.
Major community grant recipients are eligible for assistance once every three years.
Local organisations are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to bring their ideas to life and make a meaningful difference in the community.
“Benalla Rural City Council is excited to see the innovative and impactful projects that will emerge through this expanded program, Cr Hearn said.
“Together, we can build a vibrant and thriving community.”
