The selfless volunteers dedicated to the management and upkeep of the oval have been receiving a lot of positive feedback.
The nearly 90-year-old fence of galvanised iron pipe, cyclone mesh and crumbling concrete posts has been replaced with a traditional cricket ground white picket fence, but constructed from durable modern steel materials.
Luke McKay Contracting was engaged to complete the project following the completion of a similar project at Euroa.
Construction of the new fence and removal of the old fence took only six days.
The project involved moving the fence 1.2m inside the old.
Great care was taken to minimise the impact on the grand old perimeter elm and plane trees.
Locals that regularly visit the gardens, along with community members on social media, have been glowing in their reviews of the new fence.
A frequent comment has been that it has taken a new fence to see how run down the old fence was, with its crooked posts distorted by close proximity to trees and their roots.
The committee of management had to borrow a portion of the required funds, and has sought donations to be recognised with a small plaque on a fence picket.
Now that the fence is a reality, and its valuable addition to the gardens landscape plain for all to see, it is hoped that more donations will roll in.
More than $20,000 of a $60,000 target has already been received.
