Held Friday evening, between bursts of heavy rain, the family fun night was well supported.
Held at the Deniliquin Boat Club at the same time as Ski School, it was a huge success for the Deniliquin Murray to Moyne Cycle Relay Team’s fundraising efforts for Deniliquin Hospital.
“I’m not sure what the final figures were, but the preliminary figures were just over $8500 from the silent auction and raffle,” team member Annie Romanin said.
“It was a great attendance, really well-supported, and well organised by the Boat Club. It was hard to get a park.
“We were so lucky with the weather, it was a perfect night.”
There was plenty going on throughout the evening for people to enjoy, including the Tiamo Twin Flame Woodfire Pizza, Lick It Quick ice-cream and live music.
“The pizza guy must have broken records for how many pizzas he served, and he won a raffle prize as well,” Mrs Romanin said.
“There was entertainment from Jaymi Clancy from Echuca Moama.
“We also had a raffle organised with local butchers and the silent auction had around 70 different items and experiences which people could buy as Christmas presents.
“So thanks to all the sponsors, there was awesome community support all night.”
Mrs Romanin said the event worked well with several work Christmas parties being held during the evening.
“Everyone I’ve spoken to said they had a really good night.
“Preliminary thoughts are to have it at the same time again next year, as the boat club are keen to lock it in.”
The fun night was the only formal fundraising night for the cycle team, but donations are still welcome to try and get to the goal of $10,000.
Anyone wishing to join the team and participate in the Murray to Moyne relay in April is also welcome to get in touch.
“People can still donate via our QR code, or by contacting Deniliquin Hospital. Even if it’s just a $20 donation.”
“The ride is the first weekend of April so we still have some time to train and raise some more, but $10,000 is the aim to have by the time we hit the bikes in April.
“Hopefully, we can buy something really worthwhile again for the hospital.”
