Geoff and Pauline Ford lost their home, which is located on the Riverina Highway next to the hotel, to fire on August 11.
The community rallied in the hours that followed, with a community committee starting to coordinate a family fundraising day.
When lockdown restrictions came in to place, they had to come up with another idea.
Hotel publican Kim Hejduk said while they wait for lockdown to be lifted, community members have started donating items for an auction.
It too will be on hold until after lockdown, but she said that just gives people more time to donate.
‘‘We had the idea to do a silent auction and now lockdown has come, and been extended, so it’s just on hold at the moment,’’ she said.
‘‘We are looking to have more items and get going with it once the pub is open again.
‘‘We’ve had a great response and people are welcome to continue dropping by their donations to us.
‘‘We’ve also had more than $1000 put in our donation bucket for the fundraiser.
‘‘The community is here to support the Fords and we will be eager to do more when we can.’’
Auction items already donated include woodcraft, fresh eggs and alcohol.
