On International Day of People with a Disability, Moira Shire, Intereach, Yarrawonga Neighbourhood House (YNH) and Cobram Community House unveiled their partnership which promotes and delivers the Access At A Glance program to businesses and organisations throughout the Moira Shire.
The Access at a Glance sticker program consists of businesses within the Moira Shire aiming to recognise their accessibility.
The program also helps people find venues and businesses that meet their accessibility needs.
To recognise this partnership volunteers of each organisation attended a morning tea in the gardens of YNH in early December with YNH previously being assessed and receiving 11 of the 15 stickers available with volunteers sticking them in the window to the house.
There are 15 internationally recognised stickers available for people to display on their shop fronts depicting what access is available.
The stickers will show locals and tourists visiting the area, the businesses that are wheelchair friendly through to locations where there are darker, calm, quiet locations that could help people who have a sensory disability.
Volunteers from the community have trained to assess businesses so be on the lookout for more local venues displaying the accessibility they have available.
