Aaron Read originally planned to travel from Perth to Melbourne on his courier bicycle, across the Nullabor, making it the longest parcel delivery to be made by bike.
With dog Marnus along for the journey, Aaron has changed the route slightly due to the extreme weather expected this summer.
“I’ve crossed the Nullabor by almost every other form of transport, so I wanted to cross it by bike,” Aaron said.
“It’s meant to be the hottest summer on record this year, and I don't think it would be good for Marnus to go through that type of weather.”
Aaron and Marnus will now be travelling from Melbourne to Bundaberg in Queensland, pushing to travel a minimum of 100km each day.
They will leave early next month.
The only thing left to plan for Aaron is finding someone in Bundaberg to deliver his parcel to.
Although the distance between Melbourne to Bundaberg is significantly less than the original route, Aaron said it’s still long enough to set a record.
Along the way Aaron will be setting up his own camp where ever he stops.
Aaron grew up in Deniliquin but now lives in Copenhagen, where he has a bike delivery service business.
Back home for a visit, you may see him around Deniliquin training for the big ride.
