Police stopped a car on the Cobb Highway south of Deniliquin about 1.10am.
After speaking with the driver and the car’s passengers, police had cause to search the car.
They allege to have found a black garbage bag on the back seat, inside which were a number of resealable plastic bags of green vegetable matter.
The bag was seized, and weighed in at 871.9g.
Deniliquin Police said the estimated street value of the cannabis was $9000.
The driver - a 27 year-old Condobolin man - was charged with possession of a prohibited drug and ordered to appear in Deniliquin Court.
Investigations surrounding the drugs are ongoing.
Angle grinder wakes neighbours
Police are investigating the theft of a gas cannister from the Conargo Recreation Reserve.
The tank is believed to have been taken about 5.30am Thursday, which is the same time a Conargo resident claims to have been woken by the sound of an angle grinder.
The resident told police a black hatchback was seen parked at the Conargo Hall about the same time.
People in dark clothing were also seen placing something in the car.
Once the sun came up, the resident went to investigate and discovered the cage containing the gas cylinders had been cut open.

TAFE break-in
Tools to the value of $1600 have been reported stolen from the Deniliquin TAFE campus.
A storeroom at the campus was accessed between 5pm Thursday and 8.30am Monday.
Crime scene officers are investigating.

Diesel stolen
Police wish to speak to the driver of a white Hilux ute seen in the vicinity of a Deniliquin business were diesel has been reported stolen.
The business owner received an alert from the security system at the Barham Rd property about 5.45am Sunday.
