One of the Goulburn Valley League’s contested kings had another outstanding showing in round 12, registering his best showing this season.
Coming off a string of high-quality performances, Echuca’s Jack McHale continued a superb season with another strong day out in his side’s 67-point win over Shepparton Swans on Saturday.
McHale picked up 36 disposals against the Swans and, in typically ruthless fashion, collecting a league-high 20 contested possessions.
His influence off the ball was felt with 10 tackles and a game-high six score involvements, sweetened with a goal of his own.
Remarkably, it’s McHale’s fifth game with 20 or more contested possessions, reaffirming his status as one of the Goulburn Valley League’s finest contested ball winners.
Before round 12 he ranked second in average and total contested possessions (minimum five games) behind Benalla’s Will Martiniello, but make no mistake — McHale is coming for the contested crown.
He has been a key cog in Echuca’s undefeated run, averaging 25.2 disposals, 16 contested possessions and four tackles, leading the Murray Bombers averages in handballs (13.7), ground ball gets (14.4) and clearances (8.5).
