More than 30 Lions, ladies and guests attended the June 28 proceedings at the Tallygaroopna Football Club, including zone chairman Keith Bryant from Tatura Lions Club, who installed the office bearers for the next year.
Lions Club member Ron Jones became president in what will be his fourth time at the helm ― first as the charter president in two stints over the years, and as well as filling most portfolios at club level and as zone chairman.
Office bearers installed were president Mr Jones, vice-president Russell Guppy, treasurer Ian Waite and the secretary, and the newest member of the club, Terry Walton.
Zone chairman Mr Bryant was honoured to install the new officers.
He has been a frequent visitor to the club in his role over the past five years and member of Tatura for more than 20 years.
The night also saw the farewell of a long-time member and friend, Paul Neal, after 40 untiring years of service — 10 in Apex and 30 in Lions.
Mr Neal thanked the club for all the fun and friendship over the years and said he and his wife, Lynda, would be enjoying some quality time with family.
Both were presented with gifts of thanks and gratitude.
New president Mr Jones hopes to attract some new members this year; all members are happy to welcome any community-minded people who can contribute to the club.
Activities include being on the football gates, barbecues and also enjoying the fellowship that being a member of a Lions Club brings.
