The trees, part of an annual initiative by Go Seymour to connect with local community groups, were decorated this year by participants from Goulburn Options.
The project kicked off in late October when Go Seymour invited Goulburn Options to take part, marking another chapter in the display’s tradition of fostering community spirit.
The collaboration began with the Seymour Men’s Shed preparing the trees, which were then delivered to Goulburn Options’ studio space for decoration.
Participants spent November working on the trees under the guidance of disability support workers, painting them with their unique designs. More than 30 participants contributed to the festive display, each leaving their creative mark.
“The inspiration behind the decorations is community and inclusion,” Goulburn Options outcomes team leader Grace Coppinger said.
“We have many talented artists that got to showcase their own personal styles, as well as participants who got involved from outside the art program.
“It was a very accessible project, open to participants of all abilities.
“The result is beautiful as you will no doubt see in the photos.”
The ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 6 brought together everyone involved in the project, along with community members, to celebrate the completion of the display. The festive event highlighted the partnership between local groups and the importance of initiatives that bring people together.
Go Seymour has launched a social media campaign to engage the community, inviting visitors to take photos at the display and share them using the hashtag #GOXmas24.
Selected photos will be featured weekly on their social media accounts, adding another connection layer to the project.
Videos featuring interviews with the artists and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the process will also be released throughout December on the Goulburn Options Facebook page, offering a closer look at the talented artists behind the decorations.
“Goulburn Options would like to say a huge thank you to Carly, Stuart, Sissy and the whole team at Go Seymour for having us as a part of the project,” Ms Coppinger said.
“Our participants had such a fantastic time.
“We’d also like to invite the whole community to stop by and check it out, right through December. “
