Australian writer and former television journalist Alexia Boland Herrick is set to release her debut thriller novel, Truth stays buried, on September 7.

The novel centres on newspaper reporter Tasman Hill, who finds himself caught in the biggest story of his career — the suspicious disappearance of his colleague, star crime journalist Harrison Marks.

As Tasman delves deeper into the mystery, he discovers secrets that bring him closer to both the truth and the killer.

The novel features locations inspired by iconic settings across Victoria, including Mount Dandenong in the Dandenong Ranges, the High Country and north-east Victoria. Alexia drew on her background in journalism and her experience covering crime and emergency services for inspiration.

Writing a crime thriller novel felt like a natural progression after a career as a journalist, Alexia said.

“I grew up in a policing family in Victoria and quickly began covering crime and emergency services as a journalist, so writing a thriller novel has felt like a natural next step for me as a writer,” she said.

Truth stays buried explores themes of deception, honesty and justice, offering readers a suspenseful journey through multiple points of view.

Alexia invites readers to join Tasman Hill as he navigates a city full of secrets where the truth refuses to stay hidden.

The novel will be available in eBook, paperback and hardcover from September 7.
